When I was young (as if that was ever possible), I loved Albert Lamorisse’s small masterpiece, The Red Balloon. It is a sweet, sensitive story that has a strong emotional pull and never ceases to take me back roughly 50 years or so.

Now that I’m middle-aged, I’m especially fascinated with seeing what Paris looked like the year I was born, and hearing again the gorgeous score.
