Dylan Thomas’ A Child’s Christmas in Wales is one of the great prose poems of the 20th century. It’s lyrical language, warm nostalgia and vivid imagery make it one of my Christmas favorites. Several years ago, a wonderful short film version of the story was produced, and starred the superb Denholm Elliott as the storyteller. Unfortunately, the film isn’t available for online viewing, but here’s the next best thing, Dylan Thomas himself reading this classic in his wonderful Welsh voice. Below the video link are some images from the short film. It is highly recommended and is a beautiful addition to the season.
